Wow, that tow head has everyone in a spin! Tessa Jowell, Andrew Rawnsley, no less. Londoners voted for Ken, not because of his politics, but because he was a character, a myth even. They will vote for Boris for the same reasons. They want good governance, but they yearn for character. The Terminator proved that in California: Grey wasn’t their colour.
Ken’s problem is that Ken’s myth no longer corresponds to the myth of Ken. His governance may be be good but his politics are mad and bad, and Londoners know it. They don’t respect Labour for taking him back in, and see Labour ‘s support for his campaign now as hypocrisy - as Labour hypocrisy. Is Boris a buffoon? Could he be trusted to run a world city.? Sadly, this is not the question being asked in a campaign that majors on bendy buses.. But he is the only kind of candidate who can take on Ken where he is vulnerable, as personality: the silver bullet for a celeb is a celeb. Hoist on your own petard, Ken ( and sadly, Labour)
