It’s Journey’s End for the SDP

Posted in News under Liberal Democrats | National | on May 12 2010

Like Mayo and Veggie, LibDem is one of those annoyingly ugly abbreviations that hint at the corruption in quality the originals have suffered. The Liberals have returned, limping, to their historical roots and given up the pretence of being anything else than a rump since they were first overwhelmed, then marginalised by Labour, still Britain’s first and only truly inclusive, democratic and progressive party. The Social Democrats have reached journey’s end. They both fool themselves. Neither has broken the mould of British Politics: they have been moulded by it, and now are just a laminate of the hydra-headed Tory party.
